Giacomo Balla – Pessimism and Optimism (c. 1923–24) | Limited Fine Art Print
Giacomo Balla – Pessimism and Optimism (c. 1923–24) | Limited Fine Art Print A cosmic tug-of-war between shadow and light. In Pessimism and Optimism, Balla turns emotion into architecture — jagged forms crash and rise, coloured in somber blacks and explosive reds, greens, and whites. Painted during his late Futurist period, this work merges abstraction with allegory, suggesting not just inner conflict but the mood of a fractured age. Both a personal and political reflection, it’s a rare example of avant-garde painting as psychological diagram — bold, brittle, and strangely uplifting. Print is on full-size A2 paper, with the image carefully inset as 16 x 20 inches with a border around the edge to allow for easy and elegant framing. We print on beautiful archival museum-grade paper, chosen for its subtle, natural finish — the perfect surface to honour timeless artworks. The softly textured, off-white tone gives each print a warm, gallery-quality presence. • Finish: Matte, uncoated, natural white (off-white) • Acid-free: pH above 7 — prevents yellowing over time • Weight: 250 gsm (110 lb) • Thickness: 0.29 mm (11.4 mils)
